Valentine’s Day Wedding – Empire State Building
It’s an annual tradition for couples to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day atop the Empire State Building in New York City. The event is sponsored by TheKnot.com which held an online contest late last year selecting the very best love story submissions. In all, 14 couples won the opportunity and one of them was Lindenhurst, New York firefighters Sarah Carpino and George Callahan.
“She’s the first girl I know of in our company, in our fire department, to ever have the nozzle going into a working fire. And I had the nozzle and this man was kind of heavy and they couldn’t help carry him, so I put it down and she took it and ran like a snake in there.”
Sarah and George exchanged vows with their son, Jack, who the bride and groom call “The Miracle Baby”. In 1992, George was diagnosed with testicular cancer and was told he’d never be able to have a child again. George beat the odds and was overjoyed to have his son Jack present, as well as his older daughter, Jessica.
“Sarah, I give you this ring as a symbol of love.”
“That is complete, beautiful and endless.”
“Pie, you may kiss your bride.”
“Get over here, I’ve been waiting for this part.”
After the beautiful wedding ceremony, Sarah and George had a photo shoot on the 86th floor Observation Deck of New York City’s tallest and most storied skyscraper. Afterwards, it was off to take more photos at some of New York’s most treasured landmarks like Lincoln Center and Times Square.
“We’re having a great time. Here we are in Times Square.”
“Beautiful weather on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day.”
Congratulations to Sarah and George on a fantastic Valentine’s Day wedding celebration. This is Christopher Figueroa reporting.
